The best portable table saw can handle precision cutting and make the job easy by sliding the planks down the table and letting the blade do the work. However, you may have doubts about purchasing a table saw due to the price, or because of its size and weight. It is true that most table saws can take up a lot of room in a home work space and may be difficult to haul to the work site, but there are some brands of table saws that are designed especially to handle heavy projects while still being light enough to transport.
DEWALT DW745 10-Inch Compact Job-Site Table Saw
This 10-inch table saw is one of the top-rated tools in its class. It comes with a telescoping rack and pinion fence that makes it flexible for cutting wider planks. The adjusters need no extra tools to use and make it fairly simple to use. The saw has a 20-inch rip capacity and has a compact 25.8 x 13.9 x 26.5 dimension while weighing only 45 pounds, making it easy to haul back and forth from the workplace. The only drawback when purchasing this saw is that the table stand that goes with it must be purchased separately.
Bosch 4100-09 10-Inch Worksite Table Saw with Gravity-Rise Stand
The Bosch 4100-09 saw is another 10-inch bladed table saw that has some similarities to its DeWalt DW745 counterpart, but unlike the DW745 it does have a stand that’s attached to it. The stand is gravity rise that locks in place and has wheels for mobility, a combination making for an easy setup and take down. It does have a sliding fence, though it isn’t rack and pinion like DeWalt’s, and the rip capacity is 25 inches. The saw is a little bigger and heavier than the DW745, but has all the power and more.
DEWALT DWE7480 10-Inch Compact Job Site Table Saw
This saw is also rack and pinion with it’s fence guard like it’s sibling the DW745, but it has a bit of a larger rip capacity at 24 1/2 inches and a higher blade RPM at 4800. This saw also has a roll cage that offers a higher durability for use in the workplace, and also comes with an attachment for shop vacs to clean it out. So if you’re looking for a saw that’s priced about the same as the DW745 but has just a little more power and cutting width, the DW7480 just might be the best for you.
DEWALT DW744XRS 10-inch Job Site Table Saw with Rolling Stand
This saw also follows along most of the same features as the DW7480 and DW745 in terms of its power, rip capacity, and 15-amp motor. But unlike the DEWALT DW7480 and DW745, this saw does come built with a retractable stand. This stand comes with folding legs that you can set up and take down whenever you need, and wheels that can handle rougher terrain, and an extending handle bar that gives it a similar feel to a large suitcase. So if you’re pleased with the performance of the DW745 and DW7480 but want a saw that’s even easier to transport, the DW744XRS is just the saw you need.
Bosch GTS1031 10-Inch Portable Jobsite Table Saw
This Bosch saw comes at about the same size and weight as its DeWalt 740 series counterparts, but at 5000 RPMs this saw packs an even harder punch. It also comes with much of same accuracy adjustments as the DeWalts and its 4100 sibling. Unlike the 4100, it does not come sold with the table stand and its rip capacity is only 18 1/2 inches.
Depending on what you value most in a saw will determine which one is the best for you. If you prefer the lightest weight in a table saw, the DW745 or Bosch GTS1031 will likely be the most ideal for you. If you prefer greater ease of transportation features, you’ll probably want to consider the DW744XRS or Bosch 4100-09.
